Hospitality & Tourism

Hospitality Management

With a strong emphasis on management and hospitality events, this course aims to prepare you for a career in a range of hospitality related industries including hotels, major events, leisure environments and other customer service oriented areas.

You have the opportunity to undertake a placement in your second year of study, which could be extended up to five months. If you are studying on the four-year course, you will have the opportunity to further build on your CV through a one-year placement.

Accounting & Finance

Why Study Accounting and Finance with us?

This is a highly ranked course: 14th out of 110 UK universities for course satisfaction (The Guardian University League Tables 2017). The course is also highly rated by students with overall student satisfaction consistently above 90% and the average for the sector (National Student Survey).

Our course has the maximum exemptions available with CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales), and ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), and significant exemptions from CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountancy). Graduates are eligible to become a member of AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) with relevant experience.

Students have the option to sit a CIMA exam at the end of the first year. If successful, students will be issued with a CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting (subject to ongoing approval)

Sport Sciences

In recent years, the sports, recreation and leisure industries have shown continued growth. International success and the growing health agenda has ensured that investment and interest in sport and exercise in the UK continues to increase substantially.

Therefore, the course is designed with two core principles in mind. Firstly, the development of knowledge, applied skills and analytical techniques in the conventional sub-disciplines of sport and exercise sciences. Secondly, the orientation of studies around vocational opportunities and practices, including PE, sports management, development, coaching, health promotion, leisure and recreation, as well as sport science support and sport and exercise sciences generally.

Food & Science Innovation

This course is designed specifically for – and with the support of – food industry partners, and both full-time and part-time/blended learning options will be available. You will be supported by a mixture of workplace mentors, online support materials and University tutors. Industrial and practical placements will also be available.
Food science and innovation is increasingly important in today’s world, where food contamination issues and a healthy, safe food supply are becoming ever more prevalent and important.
This course is industry aligned and is designed to give you the knowledge and skills necessary for employment within the food sector industries. We expect that our graduates will be highly employable within the food industry.
