Since summer is just around the corner, I thought it could be great to share with you all one of my favourite dessert recipes.
The plum pie =)
It’s really easy to cook, and perfect to eat in the park during a sunny afternoon.
Before starting, preheat the oven to 220 C.
You first need to make the pastry, as it is way better when its homemade.
Ingredients for the pastry:
1 pinch of salt
After cutting the butter in small pieces, mix it with flour and salt into a large bowl. You need to rub the butter into the flour with your fingers.
After that, add the egg yolk and continue mixing with your hands.
Add the water to the mixture till you obtain a nice ball.
Chill for 15 to 30 minutes.
Ingredients for the pie filling:
2 teaspoons strawberry jam
4 heaped tablespoons of Vanilla sugar
1- Once your pastry is ready, it’s time to start preparing the plums. After washing the fruits you need to stone them. (We all know that it’s not a lot of fun but otherwise it might be a bit crunchy).
2- After that, line the base of the pastry in a tart pan and prick it with a fork to prevent it from rising.
My grandmother’s secret to making the pie tastier is to spread some strawberry jam on the base before putting the fruits. This works for every type of pie.
3- Next place the plums on the rounded side and sprinkle with some vanilla sugar.
4- Bake for 30-40 minutes or until set.
5- Eat! Really delicious with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
